"Now, everyone can be an Internet Service Provider."

2019 World Telecommunication and Information Society Day

This year, the theme of World Telecommunication and Information Society Day, 'Bridging the standardization gap', celebrates how different countries, including a growing number of developing countries, are contributing and participating in standards-setting for different digital technologies, and how the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) standards are accelerating greater and more widespread use of ICTs for all Sustainable Development Goals.

The Smarter Wi-Fi by Simplify is among the worldwide initiatives published on ITU’s website, in its commitment to connecting the world and to standardize the cost of Internet access. The purpose of World Telecommunication and Information Society Day (WTISD) is to help raise awareness of the possibilities that the use of the Internet and other information and communication technologies (ICT) can bring to societies and economies, as well as of ways to bridge the digital divide.
